Placating the voyeur

My friends, and anyone who's listening. It's been a long time since I posted here. Perhaps I never became invested in the community, perhaps I was unwilling to bear my soul to an unforgiving internet for fear that no one would care, perhaps I'm just a closet luddite and secretly resent this whole "internet" fad.

All these theories have been put forth, and none without merit, but I begin anew, and with concrete reason. What reason is this you say? What could bring this technology-averse curmudgeon out of his cave? Well I shall tell you.

I have this friend, we'll call him "bill", who is a compulsive voyeur. He *needs* to be watching, be it elimidate, or just the lives of people like you and me. His current obsession is livejournal user katster, who is admittedly facinating in her own way (check it). But alas, she recently stopped posting for a period of time and he grew restless. So for him, and for you, I post this.

Bill: I'm unable to post my grades, since infobears is a pile of shit. Note to UW people: berkeley may have smart people, but their central IT guys have their heads up one giant ass hole. Is it really necessary to require 8 different numeric logins, each with its own PIN? No I say! But alas they say yes.

My life? Well, it's currently moderate I would say. There is the good, my friends, a great job at the internet archive (archive.org) for the summer, and high hopes for the future. There is the bad as well, mostly personal issues with relationships, which take up more of my energy than they should. And there's always the state of the world to dispair about, but that's almost a given...

I realized the other day I am currently somewhat of a substance abuser. It has been a long time since I spent a night at home/sober. Perhaps that can be chalked up to it being the end of school and everyone wanting to party, but I can't help but think it may be affected by my general sense of melancholy. I may remain sober for a bit as I ponder this further. I would hate to become self-destructive.

Well, I think that's enough of my personal life for you. Bill, I hope that this satisfies your voyeuristic tendencies. If not you'll just have to catch elimidate...

Visual Studio.BIG

As fate would have it a man came to my door, rang it, and handed me a package. I never saw his face. Inside the package was my very own copy of Visual Studio.NET RC1 (long story). Deciding to install it, made a few hundred megabytes of room. What I was then faced with was sheer lunacy. Check it out. Notice the red errow.

I have a friend, we'll call him Jon, who buys things compulsively, and in bulk. Instead of buying one ethernet card, he'll go on ebay and buy several hundred because they're cheaper that way.

He also purchases domains complusively, which is what brings me to this post.
I come home to find I have received this in the mail today.

Purchased under severe peer pressure, and with the assurance that my roomate would match me funds, I am experiencing a sense of regret. Oh, how many times have I lamented 'it sounded like a good idea at the time'?

Anyone want to buy an 8 dvd girls gone wild set? Or at least half of it? Joe? Perhaps I'll post flyers on the phrat next door.

Work

I am now at work. I am not working very hard mind you, but I am in attendance, and that is step one.

Last night there was a discussion of various terms for groups. Pods, flocks, gaggles, etc. True to my Counting Crows fanboyhood, I added murder to the list, a group of crows, and began to ponder the song Murder of One.

A desire to listen to it began to fester, and had not subsided come morning. as often happens when I begin to think of the Crows.

I am happy to report I am currently listening to a bootleg from my archives (San Fran 01/29/2001), in which there lives an 11 minute version of this opus. It rocks my lame ass, as Hagfish would say.

I am content.

With Resolve it Begins...

I have resolved to use livejournal to catalogue my travels though this crazy maze we call life. Promted in part by me dedication to my dedictation to my capstone project, in part by livejournal's inherent apeal, and in part by Annie's hope that my ramblings will give her some insight into my enigmatic persona, I begin in good faith.

As my Political Science professor astutely pointed out today, humans are horrible at predicting the future, so I cannot promise success in any of these areas, but I shall try my darndest not to dissapoint.
